2020年1月3,4日、ほぼ終日、古い写真ファイルの整理をした。結構な数であったから、この２日はパリだけに絞った。銀塩時代のNikon F3、Pentax Z1Pから、初期の一眼レフディジカメである富士フィルム S2Pro、S3Pro, D200、K-5を経由して私所有では最新のD810、α6500まで機器は様々である。写真を撮る為ではなく、全て本業である印刷関連機器の輸入に関わる交渉、ユーザー同行して工場見学、そして印刷関連の展示会への参加が目的の旅において、欧州の起点としてのパリであった。よって週末のみの滞在ではあったが、出張回数も多く随分な枚数を撮った。
2000年前後は今では考えられない程のインターネット環境は未熟であり、現在ようにPC上で最新情報に容易にアクセスはできなかった。 ホテルによっては電話の受話器から信号を送受信しなければならなかった。今のようにインターネット上で自由にニュースや動画を閲覧することもできず、夜は読書の時間であった。宿泊しているソルボンヌ近辺の書店で手に入れたアジェ、ブラッサイ、ブレッソン、ドアノー等の写真集を見るのは楽しみであった。結果、その影響は大きく、私がパリの街を歩きながら撮る対象には人が多く入っていた。私は1995年よりウェブサイトを運営していたが、ネット上或いは報道上の肖像権が現在より問題視されていない時であったので、自分のウェブサイトでも、人の顔が写るものを躊躇なく掲載していた。
この２日間、改めてその時代からパリで撮った写真を整理して人の顔が入った写真を除き始めると、残るのはアジェが撮ったような通りや路地の写真か、味気ない観光写真然としたものばかりになってしまった。そんな思いの中で、今日の一枚の写真を選択した。
今日の１枚はコンコルド広場とチュイルリー公園の間に建つ観覧車「フェリス ホイール」である。私は中高一貫の横浜山手のカソリック校に通ったが、同じ地区には何校か女子高があり、フェリス女学院もあったので、観覧車を敢えて英語標記としてこのタイトルにした。もちろん、同期、同窓の誰かがフェリスという名に引き寄せられこのページに辿り着くことを期待してのことだ。2004年、FUJI S3Proで三脚を使った。最近の高感度対応の高解像度一眼レフディジカメでは、手持ちでこれよりはるかにシャープに撮れる。
下は場所を説明するだけの参考写真であるが、観覧車はコンコルド広場とチュイルリー公園の堺に立っている。パリでは時々観覧車が組み立てられる。高所恐怖症の私は写真を撮る時だけは写真と取る為に乗る。１回の乗車で３回転してくれるのでミスしたショットをリカバーできるチャンスがあるのは良い。
I cleaned up my old photo files on January 3, 4 for almost all days. The number of photos is quite huge, so I narrowed down to Paris. The equipment varies from Nikon F2, F3 in the silver halide film era to the latest privately owned D810 and α6500 via the Fujifilm S2Pro, S3Pro, D200, and K-5. It was Paris as the starting point of Europe, not to take photos, but to negotiate the import of printing machines and peripherals which is our main business and to accompany the customers to visit the manufacturing facilities and to participate in exhibitions. Therefore, I took business trips many times but fortunately I was free only on weekends when were sufficient time for me to walk around and to take photos.
At around the year of 2000, the internet was so immature that you could not imagine now, and we could not easily access the latest information on a PC as it is now. So, I purchased the books of Adget, Brassai, Bresson, Doornaw at the bookstores near the Sorbonne, Paris where I usually stayed. I read these books in the nights of my stay there. The impact was so great on me so that I must be influenced much as to that there were peoples on my photos in the years from 1990 to 2010 accordingly. I have been running a website since 1995, but the rights of portraits on the Internet or on the broadband networks were not as much discussed as now. I put my photos that includes human faces on the website without hesitation. in these early days of internet, it was lucky for me when some visitors asked me to use my photos on their books – printed on papers -. Of course, I accepted immediately.
I spent two days fully to re-organize the photos I took in Paris and removed the photos with people’s faces. However it is a pity thing for me that the photos on the website have become photographs for tourists.
Anyway, I plan to choose one photo to disclose it with my memorandum.
The image on this page is a Ferris wheel between Place de Concorde and Tuileries Park.
I dared to title this page as Ferris Wheel as I graduated a Catholic schools at Yamate, Yokohama, and I could not ignore several girls’ schools especially Ferris in the same area because I was in a boy’s school.
I took this with FUJI S3Pro with a tripod. With today’s high-resolution digital cameras supporting high sensitivity at the same time, I know I can shoot much sharper even by handheld.
